Our AIM is to Demonstrate, Represent and Teach Missional Living.
By this we mean:
Demonstrating – To practice our faith through our relationships with the young people we encounter and serve. We seek to do this not by inviting young people to come to us, but instead, by going to where young people are (wherever this may be) and revealing Christ in their lives. Encouraging them to respond to God’s Love.
Representing – To visibly show Missional living in the Highlands & Islands of Scotland. Learning others stories, sharing our own and encountering God’s in both.
Teaching - To help,support and challenge the church to think about how they might serve their communities better through practicing Missional Living.
Missional Living – We understand that it is the responsibility of the people who have discovered Jesus to follow him out into the world. To help those who don't yet know Christ get to know Him, and that it is in the process of engaging in Christ's mission together that we will get to know Him better, become more like him, and learn to use the gifts and abilities he's given us.
Highlands and Islands Youth for Christ has been telling people about Jesus since 1986. We have been finding ways to serve the local community, and bringing hope into the lives of young people. We’re trying our best to pursue the same calling that Jesus gave to his first disciples:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20
It is our desire at H&IYFC to develop expressions of missional living in partnership and unity with existing churches.
